Fictional-reality-post-modern-story-mash on every other Thursday from 10:30pm - 12am on CKDU 88.1FM in Halifax or www.ckdu.ca across the world.
There is no DJ, host or announcer for this program. Instead, the show is a collection of non-linear stories told by different characters. JD Pomo will share stories that contain some facts, some fiction and always be part of the first fictional-reality-post-modern radio show.
It is the oral history of people who may exist. It is an archive of private moments -- active in the mind but rarely shared. It will bring personal reflections to the forefront. JD Pomo is equal parts boarding house and confessional...and a whole lot of characters.
Not quite real, not quite fake.
No longer are the important things limited to the mind. People will share what is too often kept quiet. The program aims to evoke feeling rather than explain. It is tacit stories with bizarre meanings. It aims to expose the inner storyteller that is ingrained in us all.
Most importantly, it is post-modern. Blurring the boundaries and messing with form. Jump-cut storytelling, pastiche, fragmentation, clouding of reality. Stories that unravel and deny conventional form.
These people will tell you what they did today, what went wrong or their life philosophy. And intermittently a soundtrack will arrive. The character may jump in their car and a song is playing. Simultaneously, the song that is playing in the narrative will be broadcast in the present. The stories and songs will bleed into each other. No boundaries are clear-cut. It is all cobbled-together.
JD Pomo is intimate radio. It is the reading of diaries and thoughts of someone who has somehow transcended from fiction into reality. The characters are endless and the mixing of real and unreal makes things overwhelmingly limitless. Audio snapshots of the barely visible.
